I love making crafts–and I especially love making crafts without spending a lot of money! So when I saw this recycled vase project by Mel from decorcraftdesign.com, I immediately wanted to make one too!
But there was a hitch: I didn’t have spray paint. So I used what I had and made a brand new design!

I used:
- Purple acrylic paint
- Glitter glue
- Mod Podge
- An old jar
- Painter’s tape
- Paint Brush
First, I washed out the jar. (After all, who would want their beautiful project to smell like old pickles, LOL! 😂 )

Next, I marked off the top portion with painter’s tape.

Since purple was the color I had the most of, I decided to use it to paint the bottom portion. By the time I finished, I could see that this project was definitely going to need more than one coat of paint; but…

I just simply couldn’t wait for the first coat to dry so I took the tape off… 🙂

And I painted the top with the first coat of glitter glue. (Yes! You can paint with glitter glue! 😁)
After two more coats of purple and glitter, things were starting to look a lot better. All that was left to do was seal the paint to help prevent chipping. So I pulled out one of my best friends—Mod Podge—and put a nice coat of that on.

And that was it! Simply beautiful.
I hope this was inspiring to you! Let me know in the comments if you’d like to see more recycling crafts like this one! 😉
