DIY Bead Art

Beads aren’t just for stringing on necklaces and bracelets…you can also make art out of them! It’s very satisfying to see the patterns and colors come together as you design your piece; craft along with me today and I’ll show you what you need to get started! πŸ˜€

I was inspired to make this after reading Our Little Red House’s blog post, Shopping for antiques at an Arizona antique market. While she was shopping, she found a picture someone made out of old jewelry. It made me think about all the beads I have sitting around in my closet that I haven’t used in months. And a project was born!

Here’s what I used:

  • Beads (duh)
  • A canvas (like the kind you would paint on)
  • A hot glue gun
  • A strong cup of cranberry tea…ok, ok, maybe that isn’t important for everyone…but it sure was to me! πŸ˜‰

First, I took the beads and played with them until I found a pattern I liked.

Then I simply glued them on!

But once I got going, my original idea of a gigantic flower didn’t seem quite as pretty anymore; and a new, better design began to take form…

And it became this! That’s the beauty of art; you’re never locked into something. πŸ™‚

I decided to stencil a phrase from one of my favorite Bible verses on the bottom; then I stood back and smiled.

Hope you all have fun with this one! Do you have another creative way to use beads? I’m searching for more ideas!

Happy creating! ❀
