Every Cook’s Favorite Weekday Dinner

Sloppy joes have got to be the easiest dinner in history–short of freezer meals anyways. But I guarantee these will be much better than any freezer meal! And healthier too. πŸ˜‰ So tie on your apron, grab a cup of coffee, and let’s cook together tonight!

This recipe was adapted by my mom from a recipe on food network.com. She has created the simplified version! Click below to download the printable version of the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 TBSP vegetable oil
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
  • A bit of fresh black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
  • Hamburger buns
  • Cheddar or American cheese (optional)

Let the fun begin! Start by sauteing the bell pepper in the oil for about 6 minutes or so.

Yay for veggies!

Then toss the beef in and brown it.

Once it’s browned, go ahead and drain it, then add the garlic. You’ll want to cook the garlic for about a minute or so, just to release the flavor a little.

Next, add the black pepper, ketchup, barbecue sauce, and Worcestershire sauce; then simmer all the flavors together for 10 minutes.

Scoop some on a hamburger bun, maybe top with a little cheese, and shazam! Dinner’s done! If you’ve got extra time, this meal goes really well with homemade baked potato chips–but store-bought ones work great too (except for the health factor 😦 ).

What’s your favorite weeknight dinner? ❀

Hope this helps you some crazy night! πŸ˜‰
